Overview
Error - Duplicate External Reference ID
Error Message:
Duplicate External Reference Id - ‘ISO3166-VE’ found in row 138 on sheet ‘Country - 219’. Already seen on sheet ‘Country - 219’. External Reference IDs must be unique across all object types.
Error Message
Cause:
An External Reference ID is a unique code used to identify objects within the Resolver Core. Each object must have their own unique External Reference ID. As shown below, the same External Reference ID (ISO3166-VE) is used for both objects (Brish Virgin Islands and Venezuela).
Data Import Template
Solution:
Change one of the object's External Reference IDs, making both External Reference IDs unique.
Error - No Valid Field Options
Error Message:
No valid option "fy 2026" on "Fiscal Year" for ref value "Incident6059"
Error Message
Cause:
The Data Import is looking for the Select List Field option FY2026, but this option does not exist in Resolver Core.
Example - Select List Field
Solution:
Navigate to the Select List and add the missing Select List Field option. For more information on adding options to a select list, please refer to the Editing a Select List Field article.
Error - Could Not Find Destination/Source Object
Error Message:
Could not find destination object: OfficerResponse1 , source was Activity10000
Error Message
Cause:
The Data Import cannot determine where to place the data based on the External Reference ID.
There are two possible issues that can cause this error:
- There is an issue with the External Reference ID.
- The External Reference ID for the relationship data in the import file does not match the External Reference ID for the object data within the same import template.
In the example error message above the External Reference ID has an extra space between OfficerResponse1 and the comma (OfficerResponse1 ,). As a result, the External Reference ID in the Data Import no longer matches the corresponding External Reference ID in Resolver Core.
Extra Space in External Reference ID
Solution:
- Remove the extra space from the External Reference ID in the Data Import template so that it matches the External Reference ID for the object data.
- Find the External Reference ID for the object data in the Data Import template and ensure that it exactly matches the problematic External Reference ID.
Error - Has no Header
Error Message:
Found data in row 6 column 13 on with value Action that has no header.
Error Message
Cause:
When creating a Data Import template, the first four columns are populated by the Resolver Core platform. If any of these columns are changed, Resolver Core is unable to recognize where to place the data in Resolver Core.
Data Import Template
Solution:
Locate the problem sheet that has invalid data entered in the first four columns within the Data Import template. Then copy and paste the data starting at row 5 and below to a new Data Import template. For more information on Creating a Data Import Template, please refer to the Creating a Data Import Template article.
Error - Invalid Date Value
Error Message:
Invalid date value 06/30/1954 in Date of Birth - ref value of row is PC000004
Error Message
Cause:
This error occurs when data in the .csv file is from different sources or copied and pasted into the file.
Solution:
To resolve the Invalid Date Value error, you must use the Text to Columns function in Excel® to reformat the data in the Date column. For more information on how to fix the error, please refer to the Error - Fixing the Invalid Date Value Error article.
Troubleshooting Tips
- When using multiple sheets within an Excel file and having trouble narrowing down the problematic data, import the sheets individually until the same error occurs. Instead of saving each sheet separately, you can use the Skip Sheet feature. For more information, please refer to the Skipping a Sheet on an Excel Data Import Spreadsheet article.
- An Admin user can use a GUID (Globally Unique Identifier) generator to help generate unique External Reference IDs. There are many free GUID generators available online; however, you may need approval from your IT department before using them. Please follow your company's internal security policies when using new tools or services.
Additional Information
- Data imported through the Data Import feature cannot be deleted. Data can only be created or updated.
-
The External Reference ID is required when using the Data Import feature.
- To update existing data in Resolver Core using the Data Import feature, an existing External Reference ID is required. For information on how to retrieve an External Reference ID, please refer to the Retrieving the External Reference ID for an Object article.
- When data in the Data Import template contains an External Reference ID that does not exist in your org, new data records will be created.
- The Workflow column in the Data Import template is case-sensitive. To make sure you are adding the correct Workflow with the correct casing you can Edit the Workflow State within Resolver Core to check the Workflow name.
