Overview

The Attachments field allows users to upload files, URLs (web links), or both to an object. Most standard file types are accepted by this field; however, there are some restrictions (see below). If a supported document file is uploaded to this field, it's possible to search for those documents by keywords in the file name and/or contents or by upload date.

When the File only or File and web link option is selected in the field's settings, users can upload files or weblinks up to 100 MB in size.

Files names cannot contain the word compressed.


User Account Requirements

The user account you use to log into Resolver must have Administrator permission to edit a field.

  1. From the Administration Settings menu, click the Admin Overview link.

  1. From the Admin: Overview screen, click the Fields tile under the Data Model section.

  1. From the Admin: Fields screen, enter a Field Name in the Search field to narrow down the search results.

  1. From the Admin: Edit Field screen, users cannot edit the Field Type field. Instead, you must create a new field.
  2. Enter a new field name in the Field Name field.

  1. Click the Lock icon to unlock and edit the Unique Name field. It is strongly recommended that you do not change the unique name as its default value is used throughout the Core system and altering it may interfere with existing data.

  1. A Confirmation screen will appear, indicating that changing the unique name can interfere with existing data as it is used throughout the system.
  2. Click the Unlock button to unlock and edit the Unique Name field.

  1. Enter a new long name in the Long Name field. The Long Name field can include an alternate name, alternate spelling, or additional instructions. The Long Name can appear on configurable forms.

  1. Enter a new description in the Description field. The Description field can be used for additional information.

  1. If the file type you are editing is an Attachment file type, the Attachment Type field will appear. Select an attachment type by clicking on a corresponding radio button:
    • File Only: Creates a field that allows users to upload files (up to 100MB), attaching them to an object.
    • Web Link Only: Creates a field that allows users to upload a URL to an object.
    • File and Web Link: Creates a field that allows users to upload a URL or files (up to 100MB) to an object.

  1. Any Object Types the field has been added to will appear in the Related Object Types section.

  1. Click the Done button. Any changes to the field's settings are applied to all related object types.
